WHY NOT is the Minneapolis-based group of three that's taking the word 'fun' and injecting it into every single thing they put out. After releasing their debut album this past year, it's clear that WHY NOT is going to be a problem in the industry.
Being in my top-played albums of 2022, it's safe to say I had this one on repeat from the moment I heard it. Endless riffs of infectious melodies and intimate songwriting makes for a concise, yet dynamic 10-song body of work. WHY NOT definitely showcased their knack for maintaining the catchiness of indie rock music while creating an entirely new feel that's unique to one band; WHY NOT.
Songs like 'YOU'RE MY KIND' and 'TAKE A MINUTE' offer a spunk of energy and romance to feel as you sing your heart out to the lyrics. Songs like 'NYC' and 'SAME MOVIE' provide a more vulnerable sound, with perfectly minimal production and heartfelt songwriting. My favorite song has to be 'IN LOVE WITH THE SOUND,' as I found myself blasting it every time I performed in the shower.
Because of this album's sheer versatility and diverse sound, I have a feeling it will propel this band even further into the new year. Check it out if you haven't yet!
