Conrad Hsiang, the artist that many know as Public Library Commute (or PLC), has returned with his first solo track since September(!) I was super excited to write this article, since 2016 when he released his self titled project, he has been one of my favorite artists. He has worked closely with quite a collection of artists, such as Surfaces, Healy, and Felly, and his production is immaculate. This being true, PLC has always been a phenomenal vocalist to me, and she shows that off on this new single.
PLC, an artist who does most, if not all of his own production, generally employs a guitar in his songs, and the way he uses the guitar to lead the listener into the song on this one is almost angelic. "With Somebody" truly sounds exactly what you'd imagine if someone said "Play the perfect spring/summertime song." PLC's writing is usually vulnerable and personable, and for this reason, it really pulls at the heartstrings. This song is no different. On the hook he sings "you make me wanna be with somebody, doing things that I usually don't, find my way through the hotel lobby, ain't the same when I'm on my own." illustrating how his heart yearns for the companionship that said person brings.
PLC is an easy crowd favorite amongst the folks in my circles, and he may be one in yours, too. If you haven't already heard of PLC, please do yourself a huge favor. From his more mellow stuff like Too Low & Kenny (still listen to those on bandcamp, by the way) to his poppier stuff like Moonlight, he has music dating back to 2016 that is truly perfect for any occasion. It's been 4 years since his last project, so Conrad, we're patiently waiting on you... until then, thanks for the incredible singles, and we'll be ready when you are.
