Having been introduced to Kristiane's music earlier last year from her project 'I Miss Myself, Sometimes,' it's always been clear how talented she is as a songwriter and bender of genres. From more grungy rock to smooth, indie alternative, Kristiane has managed to create a style unique to her, and it's absolutely wonderful.
From her EP, 'State Lines,' this song was one of my top-played of 2022. 'Trying to Find Us' is introduced by raw, almost melancholic electric guitar chords and airy textures around it. Kristiane's intimate vocals then fill the gaps and compliment the emotion right away. Along with the vulnerable songwriting, it makes for a song that you truly feel from the very beginning. What feels like a western drama mixed with underground rock tendencies, it's simply a testament to the insanely fresh sound being molded by this rising star.
If you haven't heard of her yet, now would be the time to hop on the Kristiane bandwagon. I can't wait to see what 2023 has in store!
